Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Go to the "Book Your Stay" page and check the availability calendar.
  2. Fill out the Rental Form.
  3. Make your payment.
  4. Once payment is received, you have successfully reserved the house.

  • If you find that you have questions at any point during this process, contact us! We will get back to you quickly, whether by call, text, or email. 


Guests are required to pay the full rental fee at the time of their reservation. Once payment has been received, it is non-refundable unless the same rental period can be re-rented at the same rate. In such cases, a refund will be provided minus a $200 cancellation fee. No other refunds or rebates will be given for any other circumstances. 


Prior to your stay at the rental house, you are required to submit a security deposit of $500 three weeks in advance. You will receive an email reminder about the payment of the security deposit during that period. Once we have received your security deposit, we will provide you with all the necessary information for your stay at the home. Following the rental period, deposits will be returned within 1 week, subject to the terms of the rental agreement. 

  • Note: To ensure mutual satisfaction, the general guideline is to leave the house in the same condition it was upon your arrival. Please see the Cleaning (10) and Damages to Property (11) sections of the rental agreement for more details on the security deposit. We love animals, we have pets of our own, and understand that they can be an important part of the family. However, due to the extra cleaning and potential allergic reactions of other renters, we discourage renters from bringing pets on their stay.

 

  • Are there any exceptions?
    • Yes, we do make exceptions for well-mannered, clean, and hypoallergenic pets. We do charge an additional $200 (non-refundable) cleaning fee per pet, per stay, and ask that all pet owners follow our guidelines and that renters with allergies take extra precautions when booking. If you would like to bring a pet, please contact us directly and we will do our best to accommodate you. 
  • Can I Bring a Service Animal?
    • Yes, we allow registered service animals in our rentals. All service animals must be registered with the appropriate authorities, and all applicable laws must be adhered to. We reserve the right to request documentation of your animal's registration, as well as proof of the animal's required vaccinations.


We believe the lake view is something that everyone should be able to enjoy, which is why we have a temporary restriction on campers during the peak summer months. However, if you're interested in bringing a camper during the off-season, we can make arrangements for up to one camper for an additional fee. 


If you'd prefer to go the traditional route, camping in a tent is always an option in the yard. Just be sure to keep an eye on the weather, as summer storms can pop up quickly in this area!

FAQs - The Beach and Boating

Absolutely! You don't have to go far - it's just a short walk to the beach. There's a convenient path right next to the house that takes you through a few trees. At the end of the walk, you'll find a set of metal stairs with handrails - this will take you right onto the beach. The sand is soft and there are plenty of little pebbles, so it's easy to move around and it's great for sunbathing.


The lake near the shore is gently sloping with shallow waters, making it perfect for a refreshing swim. You can gradually wade into deeper waters as you move away from the shore. No need to worry about any sharp drop-offs as the lake bed is smooth and gradual. Plus, the sandy bottom near the beach is made up of a mixture of soft clay and small rocks - it's the perfect spot to sink your toes into! 


There are locations to rent water equipment in Yankton, SD, including the Lewis and Clark Marina. The marina is about 12 miles away from the rental house. 


Yes! Weigand Marina just a few miles from the house. Additionally, there is another larger marina across the dam on the South Dakota side of the lake. Furthermore, personal watercraft such as kayaks can be launched from the public beach below the house.
